Barry Lewis

Barry Lewis (*1948 in London,) is a London-based photographer and filmmaker and founder of the agency Network Photographers, who has worked internationally for books and magazines from Life magazine to National Geographic. He is best known for his social and color works.

In 1969 earned a degree in chemistry from Leicester University in Leicester, United Kingdom. Lewis studied at the Royal College of Art in London, United Kingdom. In 1977 he received a Master of Arts degree. His work has been exhibited at the V&A, The Museum of London, The Photographers Gallery and Modern Art Oxford. In 1991 he received the World Press Award’s Oscar Barnac Medal for humanitarian photography.

Our collection holds a huge number of prints from his important series "Butlins, 1982" and "Blackpool, 1989" plus a rare print he made at his Ruhr trip back in 1985.
